(An addendum to Der Ewige Türke.)

It’s worth noting that, not quite like the asinine fourth-grade attempt to free-associate him with Saddam Hussein and Osama bin Ladin, Barack Obama gets called ‘Barak’ by neocons in the Commonwealth – a much more transparent attempt to turn him into an Arab golliwogg than Americans are usually allowed to get away with – and along with that, he’s been consistently pegged as an ‘appeaser’ or ‘weak on Terrorism’, is associated with various PAKI MISCEGENATION SHAME figures like Galloway, Livingstone, and Hamas, and generally treated like the kind of person the Daily Mail imagines lurks in every darkened alley. This is completely unconnected with reality, as unreal as the Eye of the Needle Gate and the POW-MIA, an exercise in mendacity that reveals more about the espouser and believer than the target.

To believe in the ridiculous memes floating around anti-Obama lunatics*, you would have to receive a significant amount of your news not just from right-wing sources like Fox or Drudge, but from the hard, extreme, unhinged right – people who spend all day indulging their volkist/exterminationist audiences’ paranoias, who have so little connection to reality they honestly believe that Palestinians have children to defeat the decent white people of Israel and our occupation of Iraq is being purposely betrayed by the MSM**. You would have to inhabit a sphere of information into which reality never intrudes – one so deeply, surreally false that you can emerge from it confidently accusing a decorated veteran of shooting himself for publicity. There are depths the like of Malkin and Oshry plumb that even their fellow right-wing doctrinaire turds have to step back from and go ‘Whoa, hold on.’

That is what it takes to believe it’s fair to call Obama a horrible Paki.

What it takes to espouse it is a simpler thing – a certain lack of scruples. Someone espousing the idea doesn’t have to be ignorant of Obama’s record on policy – readily the least remarkable thing about him, and the one that will probably distance him most from the people who otherwise look up to him – nor do they have to be ignorant of Obama’s actual background.

All someone who wants to claim, lying through their teeth, that Obama is a spooky Paki paedo has to buy into is that it’s worthwhile to tie terrorism intimately to black people – and through them, to the left. They do have to live in the sort of house-of-mirrors bullshit world where sliming dusky folk usefully hampers the progressive movement – and a world in which it’s appropriate to racialize political Islamism, as well as associate it with the soft left – but they don’t have to believe in the bullshit that spirals downwards from those assumptions.

The kind of people who do this aren’t your Fox flaks or your other Republican cogs; they’re the lunatic outsiders like Little Green Fascists or the fucking Nazi Oshry, who really seem to believe their own bullshit. They’d do the same thing to Colin Powell; they’re not prepared to let some hated Negro Semite up their beloved neoconservative foreign policy.

* I use ‘anti-Obama lunatics’ as I would ‘anti-Clinton lunatics’; there are various perfectly valid reasons to dislike Obama or even generally be anti-Obama (and foreign policy, especially from the left, is one of the better ones), but freaking out over the tone of his skin or the sound of his name is literally insane, like adding up the numbers in Bill Gates’s name and concluding he’s the Antichrist. That’s the kind of paranoia a decent society would commit you for.

** If you noticed that a lot of the media elites / international radicals / perverse rootless cosmopolitan imagery and language tends to recur in unfortunate places in history, congratulations: you’re sentient! Also worth noting is the fact that, while ‘Barak’ is certainly supposed to evoke some kind of exotic Asian polluting our children, what that relies on is thinking that, deep down, of Ehud Barak.
In short, the only social skill these people have is saving the stream of Nazi slurs that bubble up as they pass Jewish schoolchildren for the nearest blacks. They should probably be killed.
